Acid-Base Properties of Salt Solutions:  LiHS

An aqueous solution of LiHS will be basic. The Li+ is the cation of a strong base (LiOH), thus it is a neutral ion and has no effect on the pH of the solution. The HS- is from a weak acid (H2S), thus it is a basic ion. A solution of this compound in water will, therefore, be basic.
