Calculation Modes in the Chemical Calculator
The current version of the chemical calculator includes eight calculation
modes:
- Element Properties:
No calculations may be performed in this mode, which contains a database of
element properties. The molar mass of each element is used in mole conversion
calculations.
Element Pair:
Only a few calculations are carried for a selected pair of elements in this
mode. For example, you can calculate the degree of ionic character.
Formula:
In this mode you can calculate the percentage composition, constituent
formula, and formula mass from the written chemical formula.
Calculate:
The Calculate mode is most useful in carrying out unit and mole conversions.
Reaction Stoichiometry:
Most of the standard reaction stoichiometric calculations are quickly and
easilty carried out in this mode: writing and balancing equations, limiting
reagents, theoretical yield, etc.
Solution Stoichiometry:
This mode extends the reaction stoichiometric calculations to cover solutions.
Empirical Formula:
The subscripts of the "trial" empirical formula, calculated from the empirical
anaysis data, may be manipulated until a satisfactory empirical formula is
discovered.
Salt Solubility:
The solubility behavior of some 600 salts can be explored.
