The E/I  &  S/N indices: one perspective

ES-- :  Extraverts with Sensing

·        Learning is best through hands-on activities that involve more than one person.

·        ES activities should allow students to hear themselves say something out loud or bounce an idea off someone else.

·        Audiovisuals, team classroom competitions, group work are ordinarily ideal.

IS--:    Introverts with Sensing

·        Learning is best through hands-on activities that can be done alone.

·        IS activities need to be activities where the student can be alone – or, at worst, paired with just one other student.

·        An answer key on the back of a folder can make an activity self-checking. Providing answers makes the lessons familiar; the student tries it over and over, and as a result, learns the content.

EN--: Extraverts with Intuition

·        Learning is best through conceptual activities that involve more than one person.

·        Problem-based methods, especially in groups, are attacked with energy and creativity.

·        Computer-assisted methods, especially if progress is self-paced, usually produce results.

IN--:    Introverts with Intuition
