- It is
crucial to avoid stereotyping and over-simplification. For the sake of brevity, such qualifiers
as “usually,” “sometimes,” “almost,” “some,” and so forth are
OMITTED. Because they would be
inserted EVERY time ANY statement (emphasis intended) about a “type” was made.
So you are being trusted to realize that unless the exclusive words
(all, none, never, always) are used, the sentence ALWAYS means “many, most, usually,
almost always, some, etc”.
- Numerous sites on the Internet propose to offer information
on the MBTI®
instrument. However, it is
extremely important to recognize that not everything on the Web is valid
and true. Many psychological type
instruments posted on the Internet have not undergone the appropriate
reliability and validity testing, which ensures accuracy of instrument
results. If you
find instruments on the web that promise instant on-line delivery of
results, you are not dealing with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®
instrument. We strongly encourage you to use legitimate providers of MBTI® resources and services. For links to
some of the legitimate MBTI® sites, please go to Related Organizations. (link 5)
